CLASSES

GKF classes are kept small (max 10). This gives us an opportunity to observe and assess the class as a whole. An emphasis is put on functional movement patterns—squat, hinge, push, pull, core and single leg or split stance—and are based on real world situations (squatting down to pick up baby or carrying your 30 pound toddler who is kicking and screaming out of the grocery store). The “CORE” is your foundation and involves the diaphragm, pelvic floor, multifidus, obliques, erector spinae, transverse abdominis and rectus abdominis. As such it is the keystone to the most essential bodily functions: breathing and movement. Our bodies are designed for movement and weight bearing—not for sitting and inactivity.

Moms are going to a different kind of Barre!

All classes focus on prenatal, and postnatal wellness.  All barre classes require non-slip socks, bring your own or buy them at GKF for $5. Barre classes integrate elements of pilates, ballet, cardio and strength training to increase flexibility, stamina and dynamic stability while using light hand weights, bands and mini stability balls. And we’ve always got tunes to keep baby bouncing!

CLASSES AVAILABLE:

BARRE FIT AND PREGNANT

This “training for childbirth” class is safe for any stage of pregnancy. You will feel the burn and get your sweat sesh on—all while keeping safety first!

This barre class will build lean muscles, a strong core and give you a nice bum! You’ll find balance in your body, with an emphasis of postural muscles which will lead to better posture as your belly and breasts blossom. Leave class feeling energized, confident and less stressed!

FIT BUMPS

This circuit style total body workout class will prepare you for labour and delivery. Its important to realize that the exercises you perform during this class change during every trimester and stage of pregnancy. Every exercise is designed to meet you where you are in your pregnancy and encourage you to listen to your body and its cues and adjust accordingly. We utilize weights, bands, balls and TRX suspension.

BABY ONE MORE TIME

No need for a babysitter—bring baby with you! Becoming a mother is an incredible experience, but you may begin to realize what a toll the pregnancy has taken on your body. That’s okay. We get it and we can help. This barre class encourages gentle and effective movement while reconnecting and re-strengthening your body by emphasizing the core-to-pelvic floor connection, breath and mobility. Leave class feeling stronger and more energized.

FIT BUMPS 4 TWO

This class provides women with a total body, balanced approach to postpartum re-training. Release overworked muscles and restore core function and overall strength. Special attention is paid to the realignment of your body. Mom, leave feeling  more confident and inspired.

Enjoy a healthy pregnancy and rebuild your Strength and Mobility postpartum with these two new tailored Pilates workouts.

PRENATAL MAT PILATES

A full body workout on the mat using your own body weight for resistance, as well as therabands, stability balls, magic circles, foam rollers and hand weights. Tone, stretch and strengthen your entire body in preparation for labour, birth and postnatal recovery.

POSTNATAL MAT PILATES

Post-natal Mat Pilates provides an exercise  program that can be performed 6-8 weeks postpartum. This class will help you gradually regain your strength at a steady pace and help tone and sculpt your body. Various props will be used to reactivate and strengthen deep stabilizing muscles while an emphasis will be placed on pelvic floor. Leave class feeling energized and strong!

Once Postpartum always Postpartum

All postnatal classes are for those more than six weeks postpartum who have permission from their healthcare provider.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your class or personal training session.

In addition, clients may be required to submit certain forms before participating in training. These can be found on the FORMS tab above or by clicking here.
